BARRY THE BEAGLE - L

BARRY, THE BEAGLE
Barry was mistakenly admitted into the Beagle Brigade—a renowned customs unit famous for its dogs’ extraordinary sense of smell. Beagles, they say, have one of the best noses in the canine world. But Barry? He had none at all.
While his fellow beagles busily sniffed out luggage and passengers for illegal goods, Barry preferred to lounge in the plushest armchairs or leisurely stroll through the airport’s charming shops.
Faced with his glaring inefficiency, the brigade considered sending him to the University of Cambridge. Perhaps researchers could unravel the mystery of his complete lack of smell.
But one day, fate took a different turn. A very elegant man—like a duke, judging by his bearing—crossed paths with Barry. Charmed by the dog’s distinguished demeanor and unusual character, he decided to adopt him on the spot. From that day forward, Barry lived peacefully, without a care in the world, in a beautiful home.
He enjoys a lovely garden where he gets a little exercise and loves the company of his new master. And when he reflects on his story, he thinks that maybe he isn’t the best sniffer dog, but here, he is the happiest beagle—perhaps even the happiest of all dogs.
